Once upon a time..I read all the time. I mean ALL THE TIME. When I was younger I thought I was being such a rebel by sneakily reading books all night long instead of sleeping. I literally would read and read and read. Once I had my oldest almost 13 years ago my reading stopped dramatically..until one day a friend told me to read Twilight. I know I know! Not the most amazing choice, but it made me fall back in love with reading. I devoured those books and then kept going. Some years I would read over a hundred books. Then I stalled for a bit again while dealing with some family hardships, but I am determined to get back to reading regularly again. I really and truly love it and there are so many amazing words and stories and lessons out there. I thought that I would share some of the books have been reading and have read recently, and my thoughts on them, each month in case like me once you finish a book you have no idea where to go next!

In December I read pretty much everything by Sarah J. Maas. I devoured them and loved them and was wrecked by both of her series because the last books in each are not out yet! Keep that in mind before reading these, but they are really amazing and worth reading multiple times if you like to do that like I do! All of the book covers are linked (amazon affiliate links).

  • Throne of Glass Series :: This series was pretty amazing. They are supernatural fantasy books/ very good vs. very evil, so won’t be for everyone, but seriously so good!!! The first book doesn’t have quite as much epic-ness as the others, but as a whole it was so good. The last book that is available, Empire of Storms, is not the last book in the series and it ends in a cliff hanger that is AWFUL! It pretty much wrecked me and I am still coping. The last book comes out this Fall. It’s a very epic feeling series and I will definitely read it multiple times…because I totally do that. **Note: The last book has a few scenes that are very adult. The other books have some implied things, but these were more graphic. They are marked as YA Fiction, but I would definitely say that as they go through the series, they get much more adult.**

  • A Court of Thorns and Roses Series :: This series was not as awesome as the previous but I thoroughly enjoyed it. There were some things in the first book that threw me off and that I didn’t LOVE about the main character so it was a little bit hard for me at times. The second brings everything together a little bit more but makes the first feel even more disjointed..in my opinion. Of course these books have a huge following as well so I am probably in the minority and all in all I did enjoy them. The second book was really good. The last book from this series comes out in May and A Court of Mist and Fury does leave you hanging! **Note: Like the last series there are some mature scenes in this series as well**

Once I finished those I had NO IDEA what to do with my life. You know how it feels after reading so many books all really close together? You feel so lost and alone afterwards! I asked the same friend that recommended the Sarah J. Maas books what I should read next and she told me to read the Lunar Chronicles, so that is where I am at now.

  • The Lunar Chronicles :: These books feel so much lighter compared to the last books that I mentioned above. They are very easy reads to me and quite entertaining. They are fairytale adaptions and each books connects to the last in some way. I am currently on book 3 (Cress) and anxious to see where they end up. They are different, and futuristic but enjoyable for sure!

In addition to those I am also starting a non fiction book that I have been wanting to read for a long while. It looks and sounds so good and I know others who have been/are deeply touched by it.

  • Uninvited: Living Loved When You Feel Less Than, Left Out, and Lonely :: This is one I have been wanting to read for a long time. It speaks to me a lot through the description and I am really hopeful that It will be a very beneficial book to me in the long run! hoping so anyways!

Ok! WHEW! That looks like a lot but that is because I didn’t  have one of these posts last month! Next month will be much shorter and I should be able to tell you how the Lunar Chronicles ends up and Uninvited! Are you a big reader? If so, give me some recs in the comments below!
